Those pandemic years

The year 2020 - just new.
And the whole world went askew.
Pandemic swept the world.
And disease unfurled.

First appeared in Wuhan.
And the unfurl began.
From the cities of China,
It reached the far tip of Alaska.

Later in India, it did arrive.
Not all could survive.
It was named COVID-19.
Its rage unforeseen.

Everywhere it reached,
Medical help was beseeched.
The streets became empty, the whole world went down.
Lockdown started, there was no one around.

The cases did not decline.
And the world went online.
Medical workers toiled hard,
The citizens, to guard.

Then the vaccine arrived.
And many lives were revived.
Still, it was long before anything would change.
The world was still strange.

India did play a great role.
The pandemic, to control.
Of vaccines, India was the largest supplier.
Yet, we were still locked in our homes - and this none did desire.

The economy fell.
Many expats had to say farewell.
And to their houses return.
There still was no upturn.

But we prayed and moved on.
When would this crisis be gone?
The disease ravaged everything.
Its influence to our lives, did cling on.

It had been lasting in all its fury for two years.
Now 2022, was here.
People had changed.
Our lives had been rearranged.

Finally, the cases decreased.
The schools and offices that were ceased,
Were beginning to open.
People were coming out of their den.

It seemed everything was coming to an end.
Outdoor events, we started to attend.
All this pandemic stuff,
Had indeed been very tough.

All was coming back to how it was before.
But it was not completely restored.
The scar has not completely disappeared.
With 2023 - a new variant has appeared.
