My India, an independent land,
Where we Indians stand, hand in hand
From the fertile plains where the rivers flow,
To the bristling beaches where the winds blow
The golden sands of the desert Thar,
To the beauty of the deer Sambhar
From Andra Pradesh,the painting of kalamkari,
To the beautiful South Indian saree
The lava spewing volcanoes of Andamans,
To bharatnatyam, a classical dance
In Mumbai is located the Flora fountain,
The mighty Kanchenjunga, the highest mountain
The national tree of India, the banyan tree
India, with all these wonders, how beautiful is she!
Street foods in Kolkata; puchka and jhalmuri,
And Mumbai’s very own bhel puri
In Kolkata is located the Indian museum,
And there itself is the Birla planetarium
In Chennai, we get Pongal, payasam and buttermilk,
While Assam is famed for its Bihu dance and Muga silk
Hyderabad is also known as the City of Pearls,
And at Delhi, near Amar Jawan Jyothy, the tiranga flag unfurls
From the Phad painting in Rajastan,
To the Taj Mahal bult by Shahjahan
The colorful corals of Lakshadweep,
To the great sacrifices that make my heart weep
Enchanted by the Red Fort made of red sandstones,
My love for India shall always remain in my bones.
