Every Indian should now forget that he is a Rajput ,a Sikh or a Jat.He must remember that he is an Indian-SARDAR VALLABHAI PATEL-

Republic Day in India is celebrated on 26th January every year. This day is celebrated with passion and pride across the whole of India. On this auspicious day, the Constitution of India came into effect. It marks the day when India got truly independent and attained the historic Purna Swaraj. We became a sovereign, secular, socialist, democratic republic country on 26 January 1950, almost three years post-independence. This year India is celebrating its 72nd Republic day.

Republic day is of great historical importance for the Indians. After a long period of struggle, hardships and persecutions India got independence from the British Raj on 15th August 1947.But we didn’t have any form of government, constitution or political parties. After a long wait on 26th January 1950 India implemented its own Constitution after a long discussion of 166days and taking time referring the constitutions of other countries...as the makers of our constitutions wanted the constitution of India to be the best and provide equal rights to everyone and not on the basis of caste, creed, sex, colour etc.. After independence, a special constituent assembly was appointed for making the Constitution of India. Dr B.R Ambedkar led the constitution drafting committee.26th January was not only the day the constitution was implemented it also marked the end of the British rule in India.

Republic day is a national festival and celebrated with utmost importance by all Indians and is also celebrated as a National Holiday. The President of India hoists the national flag on Rajpath in New Delhi. It is followed by a 21 gun salute and the national anthem of India. People from all over the country visit the Rajpath to view the grand celebration of Republic Day every year. The first President who hoisted the flag ceremony was Dr Rajendra Prasad. In schools, colleges, government offices and private organizations, the celebration is enjoyed with full enthusiasm and entertainment. March past and parade takes place in schools along with the other functions. Many schools distribute sweets to students. Indians across the country celebrate the spirit of freedom and forget the differences between them, such as caste, religion, language and culture.

Once again I would like to remind you… Everyone who is born in this great land has only one identity-We all are Indians!

HAPPY REPUBLIC DAY!
