Republic Day is celebrated all over India with great gratification and joy. It is a day to honor the constitution of Independent India. Every year it is celebrated on 26th January with zeal and enthusiasm. Spectacular parades happen at Janpath, New Delhi, consisting the Indian National Army and The National Flag hoisting ceremony. It was this day in history in 1965 when Hindi was declared as the Official Language of India.

How/When India got its independence?
The British came to India in 1608 in the name of trade but their real intention was to invade and rule all over India. And when they started to do so, The Mughals were not in power anymore. They started to interfere in practices like sati and widow remarriage, etc (these were the good things they had done). They also started making Tribals into a settled civilization and cleared their lands and forests for timber, agriculture and building purposes. They were the ones who earned maximum profit and spended it on themselves. After attaining Independence from the British Rule, The New Indian Constitution was enrolled by the drafting committee under the deanship of Dr B.R. Ambedkar. It came into effect on 26th January, 1950 which gave the citizens of India the power to choose their own government and paved the way for democracy. Although India became a free nation on August 15, 1947(Independence Day of India), it declared itself a Democratic and a Republic State; January 26th was chosen as the date because on this day in 1930, The Indian National Congress revealed PurnaSwaraj, the declaration of India’s Independence from the Colonial Rule.

Republic day signifies the right spirit of Independent and individual India and is a celebration of the hard-won rights of freedom and equality for every Indian citizen. The important symbols of the Festival include the exhibition of military equipment, and the national flag. India’s 1st Republic Day celebrations were held in 1950 with Indonesia’s President Sukarno as the chief guest. This year it will be marked as India’s 72th Republic Day.
