Why is Republic Day Important?

Introduction

"At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom.” By Jawaharlal Nehru on 15th August 1947 at 12:00am. A very good morning teachers and my dear friends,first I would like to wish you all Happy Republic Day today we will know the significance of Republic Day. But first we need to set the scene.

History

Its August 1947 and after 200 years of British, India Gained Independence. However, what followed was the world's largest Massacre of 20th century. Following the incident,Jawaharlal created the Constitutional Assembly with Dr. B.R.Ambedkar incharge. The other members were Sanjay Phakey,Jawaharlal Nehru, C. Rajagopalachari, Rajendra Prasad,Vallabhbhai Patel, Kanaiyalal Maneklal Munshi, Ganesh Vasudev Mavalankar, Sandipkumar Patel, Abul Kalam Azad,Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Nalini Ranjan Ghosh, and Balwantrai Mehta were key figures in the assembly.

The assembly's final session convened on 24 January 1950. Each member signed two copies of the constitution, one in Hindi and the other in English. The original constitution is handwritten, with each page decorated by artists from Shantiniketan including Beohar Rammanohar Sinha and Nandalal Bose. Its calligrapher was Prem Behari Narain Raizada.

The constitution was published in Dehradun and photo lithographed by the Survey of India. Production of the
original constitution took nearly five years. Two days later, on 26 January 1950, it became the law of India. The con since it was enacted.

Facts

Each page of The Constitution was decorated by artists from Shantiniketan. There are 117,369 words in the English version of the Constitution 2000 amendments were made to the first draft of the Constitution.The document finally came to force with a total expenditure of 6.4 million.

Conclusion

So from this we can understand, that we celebrate Republic Day's for it's the day when India became a Republic. We all are proud to be a citizen of the world's largest democracy. And Once again, I wish you all a very Happy Republic Day.
