The entire world grappled in fighting with pandemic in 2020 that erupted in the China in Dec 2019, which brought world economics to grinding halt, besides loosing many precious human lives, which is considered as irrevocable loss to humanity. All countries have been passing through much hardships and difficulties in tackling this pandemic.

With surprising and shocking new mutant development of COVID-19 from UK in the last days of 2020 in December, all countries welcomed New Year 2021 with closed country boundaries to prevent further spread of the new mutant virus. Entire world is awaiting to see the approved vaccines, which could be an important solution to address this pandemic. Though two approved vaccines came lately in 2020 to address this pandemic, however, World is not only waiting for Indian vaccines for COVID-19 but also looking at how it rolls out largest vaccination program in the world.

I am very proud to be an Indian who have shown direction to the world in fighting various pandemics in the past. India is always leading the world in Pharmacy and has become an asset for the entire world. The leadership, support and great follow up done by the Hon. Prime Minister of India is unparalleled and unique in showing the way to the world’s leadership in fighting with the current pandemic. Such a personal follow up and personal visit to the three leading vaccine manufactures in India on 28th Nov, 2020 has made a golden page in the history to see how a Prime Minister of the largest democratic country of world has committed to review the preparedness of vaccine development in India. That strongly shows how India and its leadership are committed not just to the health of Indians, but also to the world population.

Like all human beings, I along with you welcomed 2021 with much positive thoughts hoping to see a ray of hope to see the end of this pandemic soon. As I was eagerly awaiting for positive news from concerned authorities in India, the day has come to listen to that positive news in 2021. India’s drugs regulator has finally granted approvals to two Covid-19 vaccines (‘Covishield’ and ‘Covaxin’) on 3rd Jan, 2021 which sent a much awaited positive signal to the entire world.

I would love to quote what our Hon. PM said in different platforms:
Quote by PM, India: “Vaccines made in India are responsible for two-thirds of the vaccine needs of the world’s children. Today, our (Indian) companies are active in international efforts for the development and production of Covid-19 vaccine”. He further tweeted after the two vaccines were approved: “It would make every Indian proud that the two vaccines that have been given emergency use approval are made in India! This shows the eagerness of our scientific community to fulfill the dream of an “Aatmanirbhar Bharat”, at the root of which is care and compassion”

If we all can recall the history of vaccines in India from 19th century to till date; India, undoubtedly has shown the light and way to the Globe on Vaccines that are very much required to humankind. India is among the largest manufacturer of generic drugs and vaccines in the world. It is home to half a dozen major vaccine makers and a host of smaller ones, making doses against polio, meningitis, pneumonia, rotavirus, BCG, measles, mumps and rubella, among other diseases.

We all must proudly appreciate the hard work, outstanding and untiring efforts of our scientists in preparing the much-needed current vaccines “Make in India and Made for the World” a reality; yet another valuable step towards “Aatmanirbhar Bharat”, as India is rolling out vaccination drive against COVID-19 on 16th January 2021.

Jai Hind.
