Indians remain largest expatriate community in Kuwait: statistics

Statistics issues by the Immigration General Administration indicate that the Indian community is still the largest expatriate community in the country. As on Nov 30, 2010, around 600,000 Indians were present in the country. Out of them, 233,000 — 157,000 men and 76,000 women — work as domestic helpers, while 81,000 are on dependent visa, including 26,374 men and 54,708 women.
The Sri Lankan community is the second largest, with an estimated population of 84,000. Bangladeshis, who are approximately 68,000, came third, and Filipinos came fourth with an estimated population of 60,000. Also, 48,000 Indonesian women and 129 men entered the country in the said year.
