The State of Kuwait, officially known as the ‘smallest constitutional monarchy’, provides compulsory education to children of the age from 6-14. The education system in Kuwait mainly comprises of 4 levels: - Nursery/ Pre schooling, primary, intermediate and secondary.
Nursery/ Pre schooling is a two year period education system. Primary education carries on for 4 years, followed by Intermediate education for 5 years and later on students move onto secondary education. After secondary education, students enroll themselves for higher studies in colleges and universities. Interestingly, Ministry of Education (MOE) in Kuwait is focusing in designing special schools for children who require special education.
Higher Education is offered in
1) Kuwait University
2) College of Basic Education in PAAET
3) Arab Open University
Kuwait University (KU)

Kuwait University was established in the year 1966. Initially, KU opened with only 2 faculties namely Faculty of Science, Arts and Education and Women’s College.
Throughout the decades, KU has expanded in various fields. Currently, KU is extended over 5 campuses- Khaldiya, Adailah, Keyfan, Shuwaikh and Jabriya.
Today, KU houses 11 faculties-
1) College of Allied Health Sciences
2) College of Arts
3) College of Business Administration
4) College of Dentistry
5) College of Education
6) College of Engineering and Petroleum
7) College of Law
8) College of Medicine
9) College of Pharmacy
10) College of Sciences
11) College of Sharia’s and Islamic Studies

Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET)

Located at Adailah, PAAET was established to overcome the shortage in technical manpower and to meet human resource needs of the country through 2 sectors namely: - Education and Training.
PAAET comprises of 4 colleges offering specializations and a number of Training Institutes.
1) College of Basic Education
2) College of Business Studies
3) College of Technological Studies
4) College of Health Sciences
5) Higher Institute of Energy ( Electricity and Water)
6) Higher Institute of Telecom and Navigation
7) Industrial Training Institute
8) Nursing Institute
9) Constructional Training Institute
10) Vocational Training Institute

Arab Open University

Open University is a private University, designed mainly for Arabic speaking Nationals. It was founded in 2002 affiliated with UK Open University. Faculties includes-
1) Faculty of Information Technology and Computing
2) Faculty of Language Studies ( English Language)
3) College of Business Studies
4) Faculty of Educational Studies
