Bhavans SIS observes World Mental Health Day 2024

The Department of Counselling & Psychology joined hands with the Departments of English and Arts on the 10th of October 2024, to spread awareness among students on the importance of maintaining a strong mental health, as an essence not only for emotional well-being but also for the overall functioning of oneself to face unprecedented pressures in today’s competitive environment.
The day’s activity commenced with a debate competition headed by Ms. Albin Daisy the Vice- Principal of SIS, she ably guided the students of grade 11 to voice out their personal opinion on the topic related to mental health and their perception on the same. The students associated the topic to their personal life experience and expressed their feeling on how mental health is important in academics. Further the active participation of the students in sharing their views helped them to gain an insight on the importance of maintaining a positive mental health that paves the way for positive thinking.
Next, students of grade 11 who opted psychology as their core subject visited classes with a Positive zone band designed by Mr. Sunimon, faculty of arts, to understand the mindset of students and also encouraged them to share their views on gratitude and happiness. The students actively participated and were enthusiastic in their expressions. Ultimately the purpose of expressing gratitude to improve well-being and nurture relationships was fulfilled.
The day’s session concluded with a short speech for students of all grades by the Psychology students on the steps for one’s positive mental wellness. They emphasized the need of mindfulness for inner calmness, regular exercise to reduce stress, quality sleep for healthy bedtime routine and the need seek support when needed as pivotal to lead a fantabulous life.
