Memory

As he sits in a chair reading a chapter,
Another one just flashes through his mind.

It hits him in the head, just like a distractor,
But, he doesn’t want to leave it behind.

Days will fade and nights will shade,
But in his soul it still remains.

The moments of joy that were made,
And he will walk through the old lanes.

Enjoying the beauty of victory,
Dismay, in the tears and grief that falls,
That is etched in his life’s history.

Through tall mountains and strong walls,
Through deep oceans and unlit caves,
That he traversed the mighty waves.

He would taste the sweets of hard work,
He would feel the sorrow of tomorrow.

Slowly in him rose the seeds of laziness,
He would gab and drink, gamble and borrow,
But on a fateful day, he would recall.

All these strong bricks will one day fall,
Pain and delight, tears and smiles.

Everything that he has come from miles,
A tiny crack, a light breeze, a dark storm,
Anything can destroy that wonderful form.

For if it goes, man will never be man,
He won’t remember how it all began.

He would think and speak, but won’t act,
Even though in him lies an ocean of fact.

He would jump and dance, cry and bark,
But nothing can bring him back to his spark.

Money and gems, won’t buy his heart,
But only moments can make his life restart.
