Electricity consumption reaches record high

The electrical load index in the country reached a record high of this year on Sunday, reaching 15,010 megawatts, compared to 14,380 megawatts recorded on Saturday. The highest temperature recorded on Sunday was 43 degrees Celsius.

The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy is expecting that the load index would exceed 17,000 megawatts this year, compared to the ceiling of last summer’s loads, which was 16,180 megawatts.

A committee is formed to rationalize the consumption of electricity and water, headed by the Undersecretary of Control Centers, Fatima Hayat, and is assigned to prepare a strategy for rationalization, determine the mechanism for its implementation, in preparation for facing the increasing summer loads.
