Proposal to limit residency permits to one year

In order to at remedying the demographic imbalance and eliminating labor that is not needed in Kuwait, the Residency Affairs Department is contemplating the issuance of a decision to limit the validity of residency permits to one or two years at a maximum.

According to local report, the proposal is being studied and will be submitted to Interior Minister Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled Al-Sabah and the Higher Committee for Demographics Rebalancing.

The decision, if approved, will limit the residency permits to one year except for those in technical jobs such as doctors, nurses and technicians in the medical fields, as well as teachers and those of senior jobs in the private sector.
