“Freedom in mind, Faith in words Pride in our hearts, Memories in our souls.”

Let us salute our country India.

Carmel School primary section celebrated the 74th Republic Day of India with great pride, glorifying unity and loyalty towards India. A beautiful and inspiring assembly was put up by the students of class 2. The management and Staff members were welcomed with flowers and colourful badges. The auditorium was tastefully decorated with balloons, flowers and the Indian National Flag. The backdrop had a scene from the Republic Day Parade.

The students of class 2 took it upon themselves to compere the show. We commenced the assembly with a verse from the Holy Quran, followed by an English prayer, Hindi prayer, the Lord’s Prayer and a thought provoking quotation about our beloved country. This was followed by a prayer song invoking the Lords blessing and a graceful prayer dance. The students presented a patriotic song “We shall overcome.” The auditorium reverberated with love and passion for our Motherland. A presentation on the significance of Republic Day made students aware of our rich history.

The vast culture and diverse nature of our beloved country was showcased through several dance performances, namely Patriotic Mashup, Incredible India, Vande Matram and We are Proud Indian, which brought the stage alive and left the audience enthralled and spellbound.

Sister Philomene addressed the students and urged them to love and pray for India and its leaders. Sister encouraged them to do their best and feel proud to be an Indian. Sister educated them to always treat each other with respect and be grateful for our forefathers who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country.

The celebration came to an end by singing the National Anthem which made our hearts swell with pride and brought a renewed vigour of loyalty towards our great country, India.
