Indian Ambassador hosted Republic day reception

Indian Ambassador to Kuwait H E Dr Adarsh Swaika hosted a reception on the occasion of India's 74th republic day.

Deputy Foreign Minister of the State of Kuwait H E Mansour Ayyad Al-Otaibi was the Chief guest for the reception in which large number of diplomats and officials, including Amiri Diwan UnderSecretary H.E Mazzin-Al-Ezza, Ambassadors of various other nations, Senior officials and diplomats from Kuwait, Prominent members of the Indian community were present.

H E Mansour Ayyad Al-Otaibi hailed the strong and deeply-rooted Kuwaiti-Indian relations, stressing keenness of both sides to develop them further. "Kuwait was one of the leading countries to invest in India in a variety of domains," he said on the sidelines of his participation in the reception.

The deputy minister added that Kuwait hosted over one million Indian workers who remarkably contribute to the state development and renaissance through their work in the public and private sectors.

"India is home to one of the oldest living civilizations and considered the mother of democracy. Our ancient belief of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (the world is a family) has become a beacon of our foreign policy as well. You can see its embodiment in the Indian foreign policy approaches and practices," Ambassador Dr Adarsh Swaika said in his welcome speech.

Ambassador also highlighted India's developmental story in his speech. "India is world's preferred Foreign Investment destination with USD 85 bn of FDI inflows in 2021-22," he said.

Ambassador highlighted the strong and historic bilateral relations between India and Kuwait in his welcome speech. "The strong and vibrant Indian community in Kuwait of approx one million is a living bridge between the two countries," he said.

As the year 2023 was declared as the International Year of Millets by the UN in March 2021 based on a proposal mooted by India, a separate Indian-millet based dish counter was also arranged during the reception, which was well enjoyed by the guest. An exhibition of Made in India products were also held as part of the reception, where several Indian products were highlighted.
