Carmel Celebrates Children’s Day

Monday, November 28, 2022

November 14th marks the birth anniversary of our legendary freedom fighter and independent India’s first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru popularly known to us as Chacha Nehru, because of his immense love and affection for children. On this day, we celebrate one of India’s illustrious sons - Pandit Nehru whose greatness lies in his deep and passionate love for India and his firm belief that each child carries a message of hope, love and joy. Therefore, with hearts full of joy, the teachers of Carmel came together to celebrate our children on this, their day – Children’s Day.

“Every child is a different kind of flower and all together, they make this world a beautiful garden.”

Assemblies were conducted separately by pre-primary and primary, middle and high school teachers.

The primary assembly began with the scripture reading, prayers, prayer song invoking God’s blessings on each one. The aura that surrounded was splendid, love and laughter filled as the teachers showcased their talents through skit, games, music and dance. The thunderous applause that followed was a sign of great appreciation.

The middle school teachers followed suit and celebrated the day with exuberance and excitement, engaging the students in various sports, a talent show and craft activities.

They were then entertained with an array of cultural programs in the beautifully decorated school auditorium. The assembly began with invoking the Lord’s blessings. The children were amazed at the moves of their teachers while presenting the action song and skit. The celebration gained momentum as the teachers danced to Indian folk songs as well as Kuwait music. To keep the spirit alive, teachers walked the ramp in floral attire depicting that little buds bloom into beautiful flowers and make the world a happier place.

The innocent, twinkling eyes and lively laughter, stood testimony to the fact that the program was a huge success and one to cherish.

Every voyage is inspired by a natural human longing of people to see and explore. The theme of the high school program was of miners travelling the world in search of treasures. The treasures being precious gems that stood for the four squads of Carmel children.

The program began by invoking the blessings of the Almighty, a prayer dance invoking the muses, and the National Anthem.

The journey, however, began with a performance by the Wellerman Sea Chanters. The miners took the children on a world-wind trip starting from Hawaii to India to the Middle East where it culminated with the Carmel crown symbolizing our precious diadems – our children, being handed over to our Principal, Sr. Christy Maria. A video of cherished memories took our lovely children down memory lane.

Sr. Christy Maria, our beloved Principal addressed the children of all sections.

Exciting sport events on-field ensured enthusiastic participation by all squads. The children truly had a fun-filled day with the pre-program inter-house class activity as well as post-program inter-house games. And the fun continued….. Students were also awarded for their notable achievements and participation in various interschool competitions.

A vote of thanks on behalf of the senior students was proposed by our Ex Minister for Discipline, Ryan Thomas.

Students dispersed with the message that gems aren’t found in their precious form. It takes great amounts of labor to make them acquire the sparkle and value that they have.
