IES Wins BISQ Competition for the Second time

Jleeb, November 22, 2022: Keeping in mind the resonance of the above-mentioned words, the glorious fourth season of the grand finale of Bhavans Interschool Quiz, BISQ 2022, was organized by Bhavans Middle East and hosted by Bhavans PIES Abu Dhabi, on 19 November 2022. The intellectual trio of Team IES, Bhavans Kuwait comprising Reine Mary John, Aditya Arun Kartha and Nilabh Shyam Krishna bagged the first position and the coveted cash prize of USD 1000. Bahrain Indian School, Bahrain, the first runner up was awarded USD 750 and Primus Private School, Dubai, the second runner up received USD 500.

Over 60 teams from various GCC countries participated in the preliminary round, conducted by Bhavans Wise Indian Academy, Ajman, on 22 October 2022. It was a written quiz consisting of 40 questions for the students of Grades 6 to 8. In Kuwait, 21 teams from 10 schools participated, out of which 2 teams qualified for the finals. It was after a month-long preparation that six eminent teams from Kuwait, Bahrain and UAE fought neck to neck in the grand finale.

The knowledge-enriching event started on the Zoom platform at 9 am. Dr Nithish T Jacob, the erudite quiz master ignited the brain-racking session of BISQ 2022 grand finale. The battle of brains was weighed up in 6 discrete rounds. There were questions from Literature, Science and Technology, General Knowledge, Sports, Entertainment and Current Affairs.

IES and BIS scored 190 points each which resulted in a tie. After a series of edgy and exciting tiebreaker rounds, the tie was broken and IES emerged as winners for the 2nd consecutive year, securing 200 points. Mr. Suresh V Balakrishnan, the Principal of PIES, Abu Dhabi, announced the winners and congratulated them for their commendable teamwork. The trainers of the winning team of IES, Kuwait, were Ms. Asha Baby, Faculty of the Department of Mathematics, Ms. Chitra I, Faculty of the Department of Social Science and Ms. Athira P.V, Faculty of the Department of Science. Mr. Sunil Kumar Menon, Head of the Department of Sanskrit and Mrs. Sujatha Jaishankar, Faculty from the Department of Social Science, were the event coordinators.

To impart and share knowledge has always been the prime goal of Bhavans Middle East. BISQ is a substantiation of the same. It is a high-minded responsibility that Bhavans Middle East has undertaken and avowed to continue.
