Indian Embassy celebrated Constitution Day of India

Embassy of India, Kuwait celebrated 72nd Constitution Day of India (Samvidhan Divas) on Saturday, 26th November. The Constitution Day is celebrated on 26 November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. On 26 November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, which came into effect on 26 January 1950.

Chargé d’ Affaires (Cd’A), Smt. Smita Patil in her remarks stated that the Constitution Day of India is a festival for every citizen of India to celebrate the foundational document of Indian democracy, the largest democracy in the world. She referred to the challenging global and domestic context of the time during which the Constitution was framed and paid tribute to the vision of the members of the Constituent Assembly, which included 15 women. World’s largest written constitution, the Constitution of India guarantees fundamental rights to its citizens.




Cd’A in her speech also paid tributes to the victims of the terrorist attack on Mumbai on 26 November 2008. The speech was concluded by reading ‘Preamble of the Indian Constitution’.

On the occasion, Indian students in Kuwait read out the Preamble in 16 different Indian languages such as Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.



Cd’A also invited the Indian diaspora in Kuwait to participate in Pravasi Bharatiya Divas-2023 (PBD) being held in Indore from 8-10 January 2023.

An exhibition on the making of Constitution of India was also organized.
