ICSK celebrates Children's Day with joviality and vigour

“Every child is a different kind of flower and all together makes this world a beautiful garden.”
November 14 is celebrated as Children’s Day every year in India in remembrance of India’s first Prime Minister Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, who was fondly called Chacha Nehru or simply Chachaji.
The occasion is celebrated every year with grand splendour and fiesta at ICSK Senior. The teachers showered the children with flowers and blessings at the entrance of the school and welcomed them to the campus.

The Children’s Day celebration began with a special assembly, dedicated to the students by their teachers. The assembly was hosted by Ms. Sayed Shibna, faculty of Commerce and Ms. Saritha Umesh, faculty of Chemistry. The proceedings started with Islamic Prayer by Mr. Muneer, faculty of Arabic and its translation by Ms. Sajeena Yusuf, faculty of Commerce. This was followed by the school prayer sung in unison by the team of teachers. Mrs. Shahnas Dalvi, faculty of Mathematics, hoisted the National Flag of Kuwait and Mr. Ali Ahmed, faculty of Arabic administered the salutation, followed by the team of teachers singing the Kuwait national anthem.

Mrs. Susan Rajesh Pothen, Vice Principal, shared the thought for the day and Mrs. Susan George, HOD Physics, said the word of the day. The newscasters for the day were Ms. Saritha, faculty of Mathematics, with International News, Ms. Manu, Academic Coordinator for Senior Secondary Section, with National News, Ms. Nigy, HOD Biology, with Local News, Mr. Nithin, HOD Hindi, with Sports News and Ms. Jayabala, HOD French, with Campus News.

Our honourable Principal and Senior Administrator, Dr. V. Binumon, administered the national pledge of India. He also blessed the young buds, who were celebrating their birthdays, with tons of wishes.

Mr. Subhash, faculty of English, came in the attire of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru and conveyed Chachaji’s message. The chocolates for the children were distributed by Chachaji.

The cultural events commenced with the melodious and mesmerising solo songs by Mr. Unnikrishnan, HOD English, Ms. Teena, faculty of Commerce and Ms. Alina, Accounts Officer. Mr. Sanjay Kumar, faculty of Music, stole the heart of the children with an amazing instrumental music with his violin. Mr. Suraj, faculty of art, came up with a live performance by portraying one of the senior most faculties of ICSK Ms. Shenaz Dalvi. Mr. Unnikrishnan, HOD English, Ms. Gurvinder Kaur Maini, faculty of Hindi, Ms. Shahnaz Hakim, faculty of English and Ms. Mehtab, faculty of English sang a euphonious and soothing group song.



The staff of ICSK rocked the stage with an enthralling and mind boggling group dance. The children were charged and encouraged the staff as they performed. Dr. Waseem, faculty of Biology, made the children laugh out loud with his stand-up comedy. All the students and staff got a chance to dance when Mr. Nishad, faculty of Dance, performed zumba dance. It was amazing to see the staff and children dance together.

Mr. Deepak, Administrative Manager, delivered the children’s day message. He in his speech asked everyone to celebrate the spirit of child within us and wished the students a very happy children’s day. Ms. Deepa Biju, coordinator of children’s day celebration, made the announcements. The assembly was dispersed after the Indian National Anthem.

A house wise tug of war competition was conducted for the students after the assembly. The house mentors also participated in the competition. Achievers house became victorious.

It was an unstoppable day as the children enjoyed every minute of it. With such a vast arena of cultural events and fun filled activities, it has proved to be a memorable day for the students.
