If you have a history of heart disease in your family, you should have your first check-up done before the age of 25. After Covid, We have seen many young people, who don't have any history of heart disease, are affected by heart attacks. We have seen some young people, especially ladies, suddenly getting collapsed dead. What we observed is that Covid cause heart inflammation in many people. These types of an issue may not be identified with a simple treadmill test. We suggest they conduct a chest MRI scan to identify any inflammation in the heart before carrying out any heavy task or exercise, Dr Naresh said.

During Covid, if you have a fever for 3 to 4 days, your body gets inflamed. In this case, there is a good possibility that your heart also is inflamed. We advise such people to conduct a chest MRI scan to identify any heart inflammation before starting any heavy work or exercise. There is medicines available now for reducing inflammation. These are protective medicines. The main thing is to prevent. Dr Trehan said that prevention is to eat right, maintain your weight, exercise properly, and lead a healthy lifestyle.

At Medanta, we conduct a lot of lectures to create awareness of a healthy lifestyle. These days people are more and more conscious as we see less obesity in India, Dr said.

“We have come a long way. When heart surgeries started in the late sixties or early seventies, the mortality rate was twenty percent. Now it is just 0.2 percent”, he said. India today has greatly evolved as a Medical destination for many countries. We have patients coming from eighty different countries. More than thirty-four countries are sending their medical professionals to our institutions for training. We will be very happy if we could develop a good relationship with the medical fraternity and the government of Kuwait to build on the goodwill that already exists between the two countries, Dr Trehan said.

Medanta also had a separate Ayurveda research centre on its campus. "I am a believer that Ayurveda have lot of gems, which actually contribute a lot to our health. If we use the strength of modern medicine and the strength of traditional medicine, we can create magic, and I am sure this will be the future," Dr Trehan said.

Medanta has already in talks with UAE and other CIS countries such as Uzbekistan, Tajikistan etc to expand Medanta's presence in these countries. The company is going for its first Public IPO very soon, Dr Naresh said.
