Indians are the largest organ donors in Kuwait

Indian community is the largest organ donors in Kuwait, Al-Rai newspaper reported quoting senior Specialist in Internal Medicine, Nephrology and Blood Pressure, Dr. Youssef Behbehani. He was talking during a symposium at the College of Social Sciences at Kuwait University, under the patronage and presence of the Acting Dean of the College of Social Sciences, Dr. Maha Al-Sijari.

The largest nationalities that donated organs after death in Kuwait are Indian, followed by Filipino and then Bangladeshi, Dr. Youssef Behbehani said.

He said that the organ donors are divided into two types: the living donor, who can donate specific and limited organs, and the deceased donor, who can donate many organs if his organs are healthy, which can save the life of up to 8 people.

Kuwait is the first country in Gulf region to conduct kidney transplant operation in 1979.
