“We all have the responsibility to take proper care of children, to commit ourselves to their development and to prepare them for the future. Parents and caregivers are mostly responsible for upbringing and development of the child, while the institutions are responsible for providing assistance and support in raising and caring for children.”

Based on the above premise, a session on ‘Positive Parenting’ was conducted at IES for the parents of Kindergarten children on Saturday, June 11, 2022. Ms. Muneera Mammikutty, the headmistress, was the keynote speaker. The session was designed to empower parents in dealing with difficult situations and give them skills in raising confident, respectful and successful children. She sensitized the parents on the importance of Positive Parenting in the current era. She urged the parents to spend quality time with their children, know them, and equip them with essential life-skills. The session aimed at being an eye-opener on current problems which are very often ignored by various stakeholders, the most important one being the relationship between the parents and the child/children. The session touched upon, Parent-Child Connect, Child – School Connect and School – Parent Connect.

The chairman of Bhavans Middle East in his closing thoughts advised the parents to utilize the vacation for reinforcing the basic concepts and life skills so that there are no learning gaps. He reiterated that children should be kept engaged for at least four hours doing meaningful academic activities. He also suggested different ways in which the parents can spend quality time with their children during the summer break.

The program was well coordinated by Ms. Sana. Ms. Sindhu Ramachandran welcomed the gathering and Ms. Deena proposed the vote of thanks.
