IDAK – KDD Volleyball and Throwball Championship 2022

The Indian Dentists’ Alliance in Kuwait’s (IDAK) first sports event for this year, the “IDAK – KDD Volley ball and Throw ball Championship 2022”, was held on 20th May 2022, at American International School, Maidan Hawally. Kuwait.

IDAK’s President, Dr. Thomas Thomas inaugurated the event and also met with the captains of both the teams – Dr. Sharno Varghese representing the “Mighty Mustangs” and Dr. Bobby Joseph representing the “Power Panthers”. KDD were the official sponsors of the event and Mr. Korula Chandy (Marketing Manager-KDD) was the Chief Guest for the event.

The match was officiated by the match referee Mr. Dileep, Founder of Indian Volleyball Association Kuwait (ISVK), Founder of Indian Basketball Association (IBA), Kuwait and Founder of Indian Football Academy Kuwait (IFAK). Vibrant and entertaining commentary for the event was provided by Dr. Thomas Thomas and Dr. Prathap Unnithan.

Mighty Mustangs won the first set of the Men’s volleyball match (25-18). In the second set, the Power Panthers made a strong come back and won the set (25-15). Both the teams fought tooth and nail in the deciding third set, and Mighty Mustangs were able to hold on to their nerves when it mattered the most and secured the win for their team (25-18). Dr. Hardhik Shetty of Power Panther received the Best Player award for the Men’s volleyball.

In the following Women's throwball match, the Mighty Mustangs was captained by Dr. Amrita Geevarghese and the Power Panthers was led by Dr. Remya Nithin. In another tightly fought match, the Power Panthers managed to steal the match from Mighty Mustangs in the deciding third set (15- 13, 12-15, 8-15). Dr Jane of Mighty Mustangs was selected as the best player for the Women’s throwball match.

IDAK kids had a fun-filled day playing Dodge ball. Another highlight for the evening was the “Lucky draw” sponsored by Kerala Ayurvedic Centre (Salmiya) and the She Zone salon (Salmiya). Mr. Korula Chandy selected the winners: Dr. Renjit George (Men), Dr. Anjana Nair (Women), Master Mathews Cherian Nithin (Boys) and Miss Nikhitha Biju Mahadev (Girls).

Dr. Anjana Aneef, IDAK’s sports committee chairperson, was applauded for meticulously planning the event, which witnessed a good participation from the IDAK members.
