Thursday, May 19, 2022

The Interior Ministry and Public Authority for Manpower discussed the matter of illegal residents and recommended setting a deadline for those who violated the Residency Law to rectify their status, pay fines and settle absconding cases.

The agreement was reached during a recent meeting between Interior Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah, Justice Minister Jamal Al-Jalawi and PAM officials to discuss the issue of violating labor in the private sector, local Arabic daily reported.

The green light was given to start preparing for a temporary project to deal with residency violators who work in the private sector only, the sources added.

This recommendation is aimed at rectifying the status of more than 150,000 violators. Earlier, during the Corona crisis, the Interior Ministry carried out the ‘Leave Safe’ campaign, which was benefited by around 27,000 illegal residents.
