A Mother Understands What a Child Does Not Say - SIMS celebrated Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is a celebration honouring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. This occasion is celebrated to honour the contributions our mothers make in our lives. The position of a mother in a child’s life is irreplaceable and the bond with her child is inexplicable.

The students and teachers of Salmiya Indian Model School celebrated Mother’s Day to express their love and gratitude towards mothers, who are the emotional backbone of the family. A special assembly was held on 12th of May in the school auditorium. The students of Class IX-A hosted the assembly under the supervision of the class teacher Ms. Varsha. It was a memorable day filled with several activities and fun.

The venue was decorated in such a way that it was eye catching. The assembly commenced with the Quran recitation along with its translation. The Principal, Dr. Anis Ahmad recited the morning prayer followed by the school song, thought of the day and the news. The teachers and the other students were entertained by the performances of the students of class IX-A. A short speech on Mother’s Day was made by Sarah. A dance performance and a skit mesmerized the spectators, as the students put their best foot forward. A group of students entered the stage, holding a placard and spoke a few words about their mothers. Simultaneously, a video was played, exalting the mother as a friend, philosopher and guide.

Ms. Meharunnisa, the Chief Accountant of SIMS and the mother of Mazin, a student of Class IX-A, was given a flower as a token of love and she passionately delivered a wonderful and stirring speech. Thereafter, flowers were given to all the teachers as a token of love which was followed by a photo session. An address was delivered by the Vice Principal, Ms. Sajitha Menon, in which she explicated the importance of Mother’s Day. The Principal, Dr. Anis Ahmad congratulated the students and the class teacher for their vibrant performances and the efforts taken to put forward a magnificent assembly. “A special salute to the mothers”, these candid words spoken by him gave goosebumps to the onlookers. Shortly after that, certificates were distributed to the winners of the “Slogan Writing” and “Poster Making” competitions.

In accordance with the Mother’s Day celebration, a creative writing competition was also conducted for the students of Grade VI to X. All the students fervently participated in the same. The event ended with the teachers and students smitten with fond memories of a day well spent.
