Indians Win First Ever Friendly Cricket Match of CAs

The Indian and Sri Lankan Chapters of the Chartered Accountants jointly organized a friendly cricket match at Boulevard cricket stadium in Salmiya, recently.

The two chapters work closely with regards to professional development of their members, however this time the collaboration was extended to sports too as the individuals come from cricket crazy nations.

The excitement was palpable, and a festive atmosphere was created with many families and children cheering the two teams.

The Sri Lankans were led by CA Sanuja Karunarathna while the Indian team was captained by CA Umesh Soni.

Sri Lankan team who opted to bat first scored 68 runs in 12 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. In reply, Indian Chapter scored 72 for 2 wickets by the 7th over and emerged winners.

The game was played in the true spirit of cricket, sportsmanship and camaraderie.

CA Rajendra Prasad of Indian chapter was named as the best batsman and man of the match while the best bowler was CA Ravi Nagar of the same chapter.

The trophies were presented by CA Sanjiv Pabrai (founding member), CA Kaizar Shakir (Immediate Past Chairman), CA Ritu Sharma (Past Chairperson) and CA Ramesh Khanna.
Mr. Dimuthu Ethugala, President of CA Sri Lanka Chapter speaking on the occasion said, “The event is a win for all of us, we have achieved the overall objective of the event which is the harmony among two chapters and I’am so pleased to see members of the two chapters and their family members socializing with each other”.

“The event will further strengthen mutual cooperation that would come in the future,” the president added.

CA Deepak Bindal, Chairman of the ICAI Kuwait Chapter conceptualized the event along with the president of the CA Sri Lanka chapter and the same was executed by the effort of members of the two chapters led by CA Aditya Dhanuka and CA Baseer of the Indian and Sri Lankan chapters respectively.

The Chapter of the Indian Chartered Accountants in Kuwait has more than 500 members while Sri Lankan Chartered Accountants chapter has over 60 members.
