Ramadan – The Holy Month

Under the shine of the pearly crescent,
We begin a journey with God,
And follow him in our thoughts.
Moving away from food and drink,
We narrow our gaze into him and him only.
But when the sun sets and the clocks strike,
We celebrate along with our kith and kin.
Laughter, chatter and smiles all around us.
We continue our days with prayer and devotion,
Till the crescent moon appears above us again.
We bid goodbye to the routine to be repeated,
And take leave with a feast called Eid,
His smiles and blessings stay with us for the year,
Till we reach him again in the month of Ramadan.
