Nowadays people are scrolling their social media without even brushing their teeth! Social media has taken a very important role in human lifestyle. People would be able to survive without food and water for one day but cannot survive with this deadly social networking sites which actually doesn’t sound good. Human race is constantly updated with the latest news and happenings all over the world with the help of various social media.
One common disadvantage of social media is that they make people lose their speaking and writing skills. During this current situation every student are getting their school notes in the PDF for, texting with their friends that lead to forgetting spellings, grammar, proper pronunciation and punctuation. Students who are more active in social networking sites are likely to get a lot distracted and forget all about the things happening around them. Unlike other technological innovations, social media has its own share of advantages and disadvantages.
Social media gives opportunities to connect with various people around the world which has both negative and positive aspects. Distance is no more a limit because it connects family, relatives and friends all over the world instantly. On the other hand, strangers with certain aim in their mind connect with us without our invitation. Cyber bullying is a common problem, children sometimes do not know how to escape in such traps. Personal attack through disrespectful comments and reviews. Social media impedes time management. It is always advisable not to connect with the unknown people. As the saying goes “Safe is better than sorry”. Nowadays hackers are waiting to cheat peoples by hacking their personnel details and bank details.
Addiction to social media is the another negative impact, children get addicted to mobile games and social media. Social media simplifies the language to make typing easier and faster without grammatical error, which is not very good for the future of the children as it is totally reducing English literature skills of students. It is important not to stare at gadgets but play outdoors with friends like badminton, football and even hide and seek to get healthy body.
Despite disadvantages, it has good aspects too, Advantages of social media are they help students to contact their classmates and teachers for their projects. Students can display their drawing, poems and articles etc. It also gives opportunities to children to participate in many online competitions. It is a powerful engine for job searches. Online shopping made people to shop their goods from the comfort of their homes. It facilitates meeting with various peoples all around the world without making extensive travelling that reduces meeting cost expenditure considerably.
