The First-Ever Hybrid Sports Meet at IES

To evince skill, speed, strength, stamina and the spirit of true sportsmanship of the Bhavanites, Bhavans Indian Education School held the first-ever Hybrid Sports Meet on November 13, 2021 with the theme ‘Fitness for All’. The adept Bhavanites participated in a plethora of sporting events manifesting their athletic acumen with an absolute precision and perfection.

The gracious presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. Shyam Sundar Boddeppalli, an alumnus of IES, a national level badminton player and a cyber-security analyst working with Sify Technologies, India, amidst the presence of Mr. N.K. Ramachandran Menon, Chairman, Bhavans Middle East, Mrs. Sudha Ramachandran, the better half of the Chairman, Mr. T. Premkumar, Principal, Indian Education School, the Vice Principals of IES and the members of senior leadership teams of other Bhavans schools in the Middle East made the day a magnificent one.

The glorious Hybrid Sports Meet unfurled at 9.a.m. with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Quran by Huzefa Muffaddal of 11D. The spectators soon witnessed the virtual hoisting of the national flag of Kuwait by Mr. T. Premkumar, Principal, IES, which was followed by the national anthem of Kuwait. The mellifluous rendition of a prayer song and Bhavans anthem by the school choir further added hues to the mega event. The congenial and cordial welcome extended by Irene Susan Jose, Minister of Sports, Student Parliament, heralded an auspicious start to the torch run ceremony by the Sports Ministers and other sportspersons of IES. The duo, Eliezer David Rebello and Irene Susan Jose, the Sport Ministers of IES, swearing their oath of allegiance with a true sportsmanship was indeed a spectacular moment to behold. The Chief Guest, Mr. Shyam Sundar Boddeppalli, while declaring the First-Ever Hybrid Sports Meet open, nostalgically shared his past experiences at school and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Mr. T. Premkumar, Principal, IES, and the entire Bhavans fraternity for the immense support and guidance he had received during his school at IES. Addressing the student community, he urged them to embrace each failure and approach life with a positive attitude and build community feeling with an open heart. He further asked the student community to salute every sports coach who had acted as a beacon in their lives chiseling them into better personalities. Mr. N.K. Ramachandran Menon, Chairman, Bhavans Middle East, in his address, appreciated the sense of competition instilled in the students and encouraged them to pursue their goals with diligence and perseverance, accepting every failure as a stepping stone to future success. He lauded the dedication of Dr. Murugaiyan Subbarayalu K. Samy, HoD, Department of Physical Education, and his team in making the sports day a memorable one.

The crowning glory of the whole event was the mesmerizing drill displays exhibited by the champions of the Primary Wing, showcasing their agility, dexterity and unison which set the tone for the rest of the events. The virtual spectators remained spellbound, witnessing the participation of students from the Primary, Middle and Senior Wing in an array of sport events. The interesting agility events organized for the grandparents and the parents witnessed an impressive participation, proving age is just a number for those who wish to excel. The prize distribution ceremony witnessed a parade of the winners who were duly honoured with medals and were much appreciated for their stellar performances in the arena of sports. Mr. T. Premkumar, Principal, IES, extolled the prize winners and declared the overall championship. Satya, Tapas and Seva won the first, the second and the third positions respectively. The Principal also appreciated and acknowledged the ceaseless efforts of Dr.Murugaiyan Subbarayalu K. Samy, the Head of the Department, and the members of the entire Physical Education Department for organizing such a resplendent show.

The zealous participation of the Bhavanites in the First-Ever Hybrid Sports Meet reiterated that nothing could dampen the spirit of Bhavanites in demonstrating their fine qualities such as comradeship, leadership, team spirit and sportsmanship. The curtains were drawn on the sports meet with the singing of the national anthem of India. Eliezer David Rebello, Sport Minister, Students Parliament, IES, proposed the vote of thanks. The Emcees of the day were Joel Dan Shibu, Neha Hareesh, Ryan John Samuel and Jiya Rajiv Vasant.
