Children use smartphones, watch T.V, play games, make phone calls and send text messages. Many older kids and teens have their own smartphones, to which they are attached 24/7 but there are risks to such frequent use by children, and if so is that different than the risk of for adults? Smart Phones emit a type of radiation that is known as Radio Frequency-Electromagnetic Radiation (RF-EMR).

There are several studies of the impact of smartphones radiation on children. In general and on average, children suffer a higher exposure on their brain regions than adult. This is because children have proportionally smaller heads and brains, yet received the same levels of smartphone radiation as adults. When used by children, the average RF energy deposition is to times higher in the brain and 10 times higher in the bone marrow of the skull, compared with smartphones used by adults. People who begin using smartphones before the age of 20 are at an even higher risk of developing brain tumors than people who begin using this wireless phones as adults. This is because of the closure proximity of the source of radiation to the brain of kids. Research also suggests that smartphones exposure could affect children’s behavior. Children become hyperactive and have emotional and behavioral problems including trouble getting along with other kids. Children who use smartphones are more likely to have ADHD. ADHD is a disorder that makes it difficult to pay attention and control impulsive behavior. Children using smartphones are at a higher risk of getting brain tumors.

Here are some tips for you if you are giving your smartphone to your kids.
1)Turn airplane mode on when giving your child a technology device.
2)Turn off wireless networks and devices to decrease your family’s radiation exposure whenever you are not actively using the smartphone.
3)As an easy first step, turn your WI-FI router off at bedtime.
4)Decrease use of smartphones or WI-FI where wireless coverage is difficult in order to avoid an increase in radiation exposure. Use the speaker phone or a plug in earpiece when you use a smartphone.
5)To protect children from radiation, they should not use smartphones except in emergency and should use the speakerphone.
6)As if the situation is worst, during this pandemic the kids and teens are more used to smartphone and smartphones are ruling the kids brain which has become difficult for kids to stay without smartphones. Parents should try to avoid these smartphones and try to give time to their kids.
