Prominent Community Member Mr. Anant Kapadiya Passed away

Prominent Community Member and Chairman of Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC) - Kuwait Shri Anand Kapadiya passed away in Toronto, Canada. He was 75 years old.

Shri Anant Kapadia, the big figure in Kuwait's corporate world and uncrowned ambassador of Indian music in Kuwait, played a crucial role in Indo-Kuwait cultural relationship.

After spending around 45 years of his life in Kuwait, Shri Anad Kapadiya left to Canada in this year February and was living a peaceful life there. He was admitted to hospital for the past few days after a stroke and lost his life on Sunday evening.

Indian Ambassador Shri Sibi George expressed his sincere and heartfelt condolences on the passing awawy of Shri Anat Kapadiya.

“Shri Kapadia created an unparalleled legacy with his exceptional contribution to the cause of Indian music and culture and was also instrumental in introducing some of India’s top cultural and artistic personalities in Kuwait,” Ambassador Shri Sibi George said. "As part of the Indian Community Support Group (ICSG) he played an important role in extending timely help to those in distress during the Covid 19 pandemic," Ambassador added.

Mr Kapadiya has created an unparalleled legacy with his exceptional contribution to the cause of Indian music and culture. Not only has he held up the best of India culturally, but as a member and Chairperson of IBPC, he has also showcased India's economic might by bringing some of India's top industrialists, business people, and entrepreneurs to Kuwait to increase Indo –Kuwait business ties. He also promoted India's classical music through collaborations with premier organizations in Kuwait like Dar Al Athar Al Islamiyyah and Kuwait's National Council for Culture Arts and Letters.

He had organised several Indian events in Kuwait featuring legendary Lata Mangeshkar, Pt Ravi Shankar, Ustad Alla Rakha, Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Ustad Shujat Khan, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and others.

Mr Kapadiya is survived by his wife Indira and three children, Akshatha, Mriga and Amit.
