Indian Education School Wins The Brain-Battle In Bahrain

The third edition of the grand finale of the brainy exhibition Bhavans interschool Quiz, BISQ 2021 was organized by Bhavans Bahrain Indian School, Bahrain, and was co-hosted by Bhavans Indian Education School, Kuwait, on October 30, 2021. The intellectual trio of team IES comprising Reine Mary John, Shreyansh Awasthi and Rohith Soni bagged the first position and the coveted cash prize of USD 1000. Our Own English High School (Boys) Sharjah, the first runners up received a cash prize of USD 750 and the second runners up, Bahrain Indian School, Bahrain, bagged USD 500 as cash prize.

The glorious event was graced by the presence of Mr. N.K Ramachandran Menon and the pivotal leaders of Bhavans Middle East. Over 60 teams from various GCC countries had participated in the audition rounds and 17 teams were qualified for the preliminary rounds. 7 eminent teams of brainiacs fought neck to neck in the grand finale. The brainy triumvirate of IES won the championship amidst thunderous applause with its counterparts in the most impressive and imposing manner setting off fireworks of jubilation in IES.

The event started with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Quran followed by the national anthem of Bahrain and Bhavans Anthem. The senior leadership team of Bhavans Middle East along with the quiz mater concertedly lit the ceremonial lamp. Mr. N.K Ramachandran Menon, Chairman, Bhavans Middle East congratulated the young quizzers and wished them good luck. He also urged them to enjoy quizzing and come through the cerebral extravaganza with flying colors. CA Himanshu Verma, Director of Bhavans, Bahrain and Mr Saji Jacob, Principal of Bahrain Indian School addressed the august gathering and extended warm greetings to the perspicacious quizzers. Mr T. Premkumar, Principal, IES, Kuwait felicitated the winners and participants of BISQ 2021-22.

Dr. Nithish. T. Jacob, the zestful quiz master ignited the splendiferous brain picking session of BISQ 2021 grand finale. The battle of brainpower was weighed up in four discrete rounds – Clockwise: Pounce and Bounce, Written round, Theme round and Anticlockwise: Pounce and Bounce round. The questions were based on literature, science and technology, social science, sports and entertainment.
After a stretch of nail-biting and disquieting session, Mrs. Ritu Verma, Director, BIS, Bahrain announced the winners of the grand finale. With 145 points, Bhavans Indian Education School, Kuwait, became the title winner of BISQ 2021.The second position was bagged by Our Own English High School (Boys) Sharjah, the UAE and Bhavans Bahrain Indian School, Bahrain, bagged the third position. Bhavans Interschool Quiz is a testimony to Bhavan’s commitment to promote quizzing and thereby imparting knowledge in its true sense for the informed and the knowledgeable are the catalysts for social change. It is a colossal and noble responsibility that Bhavans Middle East has shouldered and is delivering on the promises made to the Indian diaspora in the sands of Middle East.
