The Giant Striped Cat

Once, a tiger did speak to me,
Through his burning eyes,
He seemed to plead.
“Oh great successors of the mighty Earth,
Please look upon my kind,
For now, almost all of them are gone.
No more of them sulk in the tall grass,
No more of them are seen wading through the swamp.
The world seeks delight in seeing us dying,
Bleeding and in pain,
From their venomous shooting.

Oh dear friend,
I may be the last to say this to you,
But now, I’m finished,
And I hand my humble words to you”.
With this the sleek cat turned away,
And ran to the mountains yonder,
Satisfied with what he had done for his type,
With his message to salvage.
