Bhavans IES Celebrates India’s Independence Day

Bhavans Indian Education School, Kuwait, celebrated the 75th Independence Day of India with immense patriotic zeal and enthusiasm on August 15, 2021. The celebration, that had a unique combination of both virtual and non-virtual programmes, commenced at 8 a.m. with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Quran by Sahal Ansar of 11A, followed by a prayer song and the Bhavans anthem rendered by the members of the School Parliament. Issa Rosh, Minister of Cultural Affairs, Student Parliament, heartily welcomed the gathering consisting of Mr. N.K Ramachandran Menon, Chairman, Bhavans Middle East, Mr. T. Premkumar, Principal, Mrs. Anselma Tessy Judeson, Vice Principal, Senior Wing, Mrs. Meenakshi Nayyar, Vice Principal, Middle Wing, Mrs. Lalitha Premkumar, Vice Principal, Primary and Kindergarten Wing, the teachers, the parents, and the students of IES, to the function.
After the guard of honor by the members of the Student Parliament and the cadets of Bhavans Service Scheme, the most significant event of the great day, the flag-hoisting ceremony, was held in the school premises where the unfurling of the flag by the Principal, Mr. T. Premkumar was followed by the national anthem of India. The members of the Student Parliament and Bhavans Service Scheme held a grand parade in the school premises, strictly following the protocol related to COVID-19. Mr. T. Premkumar, Principal, read out the excerpt from the message delivered by the President of India on the eve of the 75th Independence Day.
The students showcased their patriotism and expressed their great pride in the nation through a series of spectacular dances and musical performances. The patriotic dance performed by Devinandhana Prasanth Kumar of 12C, Harichandana Praveenkumar of 11C, Dyuthi Vandana Prasanth Kumar of 7G, Pradyoth Praveen of 6G, Akshitha Rajesh of 8F, Roshini Remakumar Nair of 9C and Meenakshi Sumesh of 9B convincingly won the appreciation of the spectators. The speech on the importance of celebrating the Independence Day delivered by Caren Ann Suresh, Minister of Education, Student Parliament, let the spectators vividly recall the contributions and the sacrifices of the great freedom fighters of their homeland.
Mr. T. Premkumar, Principal, while addressing the virtual and the non-virtual gatherings, extended the Independence Day greetings to the Bhavans team. He also profusely thanked the great leaders of India for their enormous sacrifices to the nation. Quoting the message of the President of India, he underscored the importance of encouraging girl children for their bright future. He advised the students to emulate the qualities of India’s freedom fighters and asked them to be innovative and to take responsibilities in their lives. He wholeheartedly expressed his gratitude to the Department of Physical Education headed by Dr. Murugaiyan Subbarayalu K. Samy, the members of teaching fraternity, the members of Student Parliament, and the supporting staff for organising the whole event.
Melifluous rendition of Vande Mataram by Irene Sara, Minister of Cultural Affairs, Student Parliament, accompanied on the veena by Namrata Veeraprathaban of 11C and on the tabla by Sai Varun of 11D enthralled the audiophiles among the audience.
The lithesome group dance performed by Issa Rosh of 11B, Durga Suresh of 9A, Neha Hareesh Nair of 9A, and Rachel Susan of 11E was indeed a feast for the eyes. A short video titled ‘India: Scripted History’ was played as a tribute to the Indians who had won medals in the recent and the past Olympic Games.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Irene Sara, Minister of Cultural Affairs, Student Parliament. The event was emceed by Fida Ancy of 9B and Jia Rajiv of 9D. The programme which lasted for nearly an hour left an indelible impression on the minds of the teachers and the students of IES- the true flag bearer of Indian culture and Indian ethos in the sands of Kuwait.
