Return to school plan approved; 20 students per classroom

Education Committee in Council of Minister approved the recommendations by Educational Committee regarding the implementation of return to schools for both public and private education sectors at the beginning of the next academic year (2021/ 2022) as per the health requirements due to the (Covid-19) pandemic, Al Qabas daily reported

According to Al-Qabas Arabic daily, the council reviewed the committee's recommendation, which included the coordination measures between the ministries of education and health. The committee's recommendation suggest that the number of students per class does not exceed 20 in public and private schools. The committee is also proposing a weekly PCR test as a requirement for unvaccinated students to enter schools. A final plan is expected to announce shortly.

The council will form a higher committee headed by the Minister of Education, with members including officials from ministry of education, health, media, interior and other government officials.

The committee will decide the dates for return to school, measures for transition from online to offline methods. Health guidelines will be prepared and circulated to all the concerned parties to deal with various health conditions, and to hold training and awareness programs.

The council will take priority to complete vaccinating students before September and to set frameworks for dealing with the unvaccinated students.
