Indian Embassy unveiled Memorial Plaque on India-Kuwait Joint Fight Against COVID-19

To reaffirm the commitment from both India and Kuwait to continue to remain steadfastly united in the collective fight against the deadly pandemic, Embassy organized an event “India-Kuwait Joint Fight Against COVID-19” at the Embassy premise.

H E Ambassador Ali Sulaiman Al-Saeed, Assistant Foreign Minister, Asia Affairs attended the event virtually.

High profile Kuwaiti dignitaries including H E Mr. Abdulkarim Taqi, Director General, Public Authority of Industry, H E Sheikh Yousef Abdullah Sabah Al-Nasser Al-Sabah, Director General, Kuwait Ports Authority, H E Minister Plenipotentiary Nasser Sabeeh Al-Sabeeh, Assistant Foreign Minister for Development & International Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H E Mr. Jamal Hadhel Al-Jalawi, Director General, Directorate General of Customs, H E Engineer Yousef Sulaiman Al Fouzan, Director General of Civil Aviation, H E Mr. Anwar Al-Hasawi, Deputy Chairman, Kuwait Red Crescent Society and several others from both Kuwait and India graced the event with their presence.



"This event is also an occasion to express gratitude to all the stakeholders from both the countries, including the frontline healthcare workers, scientists, business communities, airlines staff, service providers who have kept the supply chains of essential supplies open, and all those who have made immense contributions in this long and arduous struggle against the pandemic," Ambassador Shri Sibi George said in his opening remarks.

Ambassador spoke about the strong, close and historic India-Kuwait friendship, about the high level political exchanges which now define the unprecedented positive momentum in the bilateral relations, summarized the journey so far in the collective action against COVID-19, expressed his gratitude to the leadership, Government, the concerned agencies, the people of Kuwait and the Indian Community in Kuwait for the assistance offered to India during the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic. Ambassador also highlighted the ‘whole of government’ and ‘whole of society’ approach that was followed by India under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi which helped in successfully overcoming the challenges faced by India during both the waves of COVID-19.



"When we talk about India, we talk about our self. The relation is old in the history it is beyond 100s of years", Assistant Foreign Minister Amb. Ali Sulaiman Al-Saeed said in his virtual address.

"We are a million Kuwaitis living among a million Indians here in Kuwait in peace, harmony and brotherhood. It was in that way for more than 40 years and wit will remain same. I thank Indian Ambassador Sri Sibi George for his leadership," His Excellency Sheikh Yousef Abdullah Sabah Al-Nasser Al-Sabah, Director General, Kuwait Ports Authority said.



Ambassador accompanied by the esteemed dignitaries unveiled a memorial plaque to mark the occasion and the partnership, especially the recently concluded successful air sea bridge operation. An artist from the Kuwaiti Arts Association, Mr. Mahmoud Al-Qattan presented a painting capturing the historic moment when in the spirit of solidarity and friendship, Kuwait had lit up the iconic Kuwait Towers with the display of national flags of India and Kuwait.



Representatives of various professional and Community associations like ICSG, IITIIM, ICAI Kuwait Chapter, Indian Doctors Forum and the Indian Business and Professionals Council, representatives of various airlines, medical oxygen manufacturing companies; and members of the media fraternity in Kuwait attended the event. Shri Rajpal Tyagi (ICSG), Peeyush Jain (IITIIM), Kaizer Shaki (IBPC), Deepak Bindal (ICAI) and Sunil Yadav (IDF) also spoke on the occasion.
