Bhavans IES Virtually Organises Its First-Ever Alumni Meet

Indian Education School, Kuwait, virtually organised its first-ever alumni meet on June 19, 2021, in the Zoom auditorium. Around 200 alumni from different batches joined the virtual meeting to reconnect and walk down the lane of nostalgia with their beloved batchmates and teachers who inspired them to move forward in life.

The joyous occasion started at 4.30 p.m. with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Quran by Mr. Mohammed Sodky, Coordinator, Department of French, Primary Wing, followed by a prayer song by Mr. Sunil Menon, Head of the Department, Sanskrit. Ms. Asha Ebey, Head of the Department, Computer Science, cordially welcomed the virtual gathering comprising Mr. N.K. Ramachandran Menon, Chairman, Bhavans Middle East, Mr. T. Premkumar, Principal, Indian Education School, Ms. Anselma Tessy Judeson, Vice Principal, Senior Wing, Ms. Meenakshi Nayyar, Vice Principal, Middle Wing, Ms. Lalitha Premkumar, Vice Principal, Primary and Kindergarten Wings, Ms. Jaemi Byju, Vice Principal, Bhavans Pearls Wisdom School, Dubai, Ms. Rajni Menon, Supervisor, Kindergarten, Smart Indian School, Kuwait, various Heads of Departments, subject coordinators, teachers, and the alumni of IES.

Mr. N.K Ramachandran Menon, Chairman, Bhavans Middle East, in his address, advised the alumni to reach the pinnacle of success in their lives. He urged the alumni to be always committed to what they do by loving what they do and doing what they love. He also told them to uphold the values Bhavan has instilled in them for a successful career and enriching life. His inspiring words triggered determination and resolution in the minds of the alumni.

Mr. T. Premkumar, Principal, IES, while addressing the virtual spectators, said that he had always been keen on organising a meet for the alumni of the school, but it had not happened due to various reasons like visa procedure, time constraints, mismatch of vacation etc. However, the present period of pandemic enabled them to overcome all those obstacles and organise a virtual meet. He hopefully stated that one day the alumni of IES would give an opportunity for their teachers to proudly talk about their students who would achieve phenomenal success in their professional and personal lives. He persuaded the alumni to chase success in their personal and professional realms and asked them to keep the flag of IES fly higher and higher.

The fun-filled evening with many a virtual game and entertaining program helped the alumni reconnect and relive their wistful past in IES. The French song ‘Les Champs Elysees’ sung by Ms. Seema Menon, Coordinator, French, Middle and Senior Wings, resonated in the hearts of alumni and brought back the memories of their educational trips to Paris. Ms. Jezy Joseph, Ms. Athira Pratap and Mr. Liju Joseph, the teachers of the Department of English, entertained the audience with their lovely songs. The ex-students enthusiastically partook in various online games and quizzes, organised by Dr. Murugaiyan Subbarayalu K. Samy, Head of the Department, Physical Education, and Mr. E.P. Prasad, Head of the Department, English, Middle and Senior Wings, and won plaudits from the online viewers comprising their teachers and friends. There was a mixed bag of emotions- smiles and laughter mixed with a few teardrops of memories among the virtual viewers when a video titled, ‘Down the Memory Lane’, was played. A few members of the alumni shared their experiences and memories associated with the school with the virtual gathering that left many an eye moistened.

The first official meeting of the alumni association of IES also elected the office bearers of the association through a democratic, e-voting procedure. Ms. Tasneem Bankoda (President), Ms. Arpitha Sherry(Vice President) Ms. Anagha Suresh (Secretary) and Ms. Anu Hariharan (Joint Secretary) were elected as the office bearers. Mr. T Premkumar, Principal, IES, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the organizers of the event and the alumni of IES for making the event a grand success. The emcees for the day were Ms. Anselma Tessy, Vice Principal, Senior Wing, and Ms. Meenakshi Nayyar, Vice Principal, Middle Wing. The eventful evening ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Ann Bindhia Peter, Head of the Department, Social Science, Middle Wing.
