IES Clinched ‘Sustainability Award 2021’ in the Global Social Leaders’ Meet

Bhavans Indian Education School has already established the custom of notching up resounding triumphs in everything it ventures into. An indomitable team of six Bhavanites stood out from the rest by winning the prestigious ‘Sustainability Award 2021’, in Global Goals Competition held by Global Social Leaders’ of the UK, a movement of socially conscious young leaders focusing on the United Nations' Global Goals for Sustainable Development. The competition was a part of the Global Social Leaders program organized by Future Foundations and Wellington Leadership Institute, London.

It was indeed a great moment for IES as its team, ‘Climate Trackers’, won the ‘Sustainability Award 2021’ in the Global Goals Competition 2021, a project contest held on June 17, 2021. It was also praiseworthy that the same team had won the prestigious ‘Pivot Award 2020’ the previous year in the same competition.

The team, Climate Trackers, comprised the six students of class 9F viz. Andriel Remi Vattakalam, Joseph Joe Puthenveli, Aaron Anil Thomas, Kiran Varghese Cherian, Kevin Prince, and Mohammed Mujtaba Ali. The project, carried out under the guidance of the Department of Social Science, included a campaign on social media on the topics of climate change and environmental issues, a beach clean-up program, a webinar on the theme ‘Restore our Earth’, circulation of e-newspaper, creation of online games to spread awareness on ‘Go Green’ and a survey and study on the extinct and endangered flora and fauna. Ms. Ann Bindhia Peter, HoD, Social Science, Middle Wing, was the school coordinator of the event, and Mr. Jijish C., a member of the Department of Social Science guided the team.

The impressive performance, that sparked a wave of euphoria among the students, the teachers, and the parents, clearly reflected the earnest endeavor and relentless pursuit of exemplary excellence of Bhavanites. The management lauded the remarkable and consistent performance of the winning team.
