Jleeb, June 05, 2021: At this juncture of tribulation when schools remain closed in many countries to stop the spread of COVID-19 and children are forced to remain at home, the necessity to guide parents on how to consider their children’s need for education, exercise, social contact and appropriate leisure time and how to understand their reactions to stressful and changing situations are of paramount importance.

Bearing this very idea in mind, an edifying counselling session was virtually organized by Bhavans Indian Education School, Kuwait, for the parents of all age groups by the school counselor, Ms. Anju Jacob, on June 03, 2021, in the gracious presence of Mr. N.K. Ramachandran Menon, Chairman, Bhavans Middle East, Mr. T. Premkumar, Principal, Indian Educational School, and the vice principals and the teachers of IES.

The session commenced at 5.40 p.m. with a welcome note delivered by Mr. T. Premkumar, Principal, who strongly urged the parents to support their children to successfully overcome the predicaments of the present scenario and requested them to keep in mind the guidance given by the counselor with regard to online classes. Ms. Anju Jacob, the school counselor, in her presentation, not only focused on the crucial points which required immediate attention and support from the parents but also emphasized the need for and importance of parents to spend quality time, discussing daily happenings, and encouraging their children to use technology in a smart and useful manner.

The concerns about the participation of students in online classes and how efficiently they were handled by the teachers under the guidance of the school’s counselor and the Senior Leadership Team were discussed. Moreover, the steps taken by the school to meet parents regularly to address the issues which required immediate attention were informed. Instant solutions to the queries on how to help children remain attentive in online classes and how to help them attend online classes with cameras turned on were also provided in the meeting.

The session was concluded with the closing thoughts shared by Ms. Anselma Tessy Judeson, Vice Principal, Senior Wing, IES, who appreciated the valuable presence of parents and encouraged them to make maximum use of the counseling facility provided by the school for the benefit of their children.
