Continuing the tradition of an annual T-20 festival match between Kuwait Cricket and the British Embassy (with an exception of missing out last year due to the pandemic), officials and players from both sides had a fantastic game of T20 cricket on Saturday 22nd of May 3pm at Sulaibiya Cricket Ground.

Kuwait Cricket team comprised of National Players (Kuwaitis only) who are gearing up for Asian Games (China 2022).

British Embassy had players from their political section, trade section and military attaches to make the most of this festival match.

Kuwait Cricket had earlier extended the invitation to the entire British Community residing in Kuwait through its social media channels as well as the British Embassy media to come forward and witness a game of cricket on the grass banks of Sulaibiya Cricket and enjoy a hot sunny day (as desired back home in England - whilst the temperatures are still under control :-) and it was heartening to see British families with their children flocking the cricket grounds.

Sulaibiya Cricket ground has had the privilege of hosting the former PM of England - Sir John Major during his last memorable visit to Kuwait and it was the President of Kuwait Cricket Mr. Haider Farman who did the honors.

On Saturday 22nd of May, Brigadier Robert Huw Lloyd-Jones and Mrs Irene Lloyd-Jones from the British Military Mission were the senior representatives at the T20 festival match on behalf of the British Embassy whereas General Secretary (GS) Emad Al Jassam & Director General (DG) Sajid Mohammad Ashraf represented the Kuwait Cricket Board.

DG Sajid Ashraf at the presentation ceremony appreciated the efforts of Simon Chase in organizing yet another memorable event with Kuwait Cricket and thanked Brigadier Robert Huw Lloyd Jones and Mrs Irene Lloyd Jones for gracing the occasion along with families & friends.

Brigadier Robert Huw Lloyd Jones at the presentation ceremony shared his views on being pleasantly surprised to see such a cricket venue in Kuwait (after being in the country for only a few weeks) and applauded the Kuwait Cricket Board of being able to maintain such a facility in such extreme dry & hot conditions.

Brigadier Robert had earlier mentioned that such a beautiful tradition between the British Embassy and Kuwait Cricket Officials of organizing T20 festival matches must continue and we look forward to involving more of the British Community in Kuwait Cricket through British schools.
