Condolence meeting - Rev. Dr. Philipose Mar Chrysostom Valiya Metropolitan

Kuwait St. Peter's Mar Thoma Parish conducted a condolence meeting on the passing away of His Grace the Most Rev. Dr. Philipose Mar Chrysostom Valiya Metropolitan, the former prelate of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church.

Chrysostom Metropolitan holds the record for being the Bishop for 68 years. His Grace was consecrated as a Bishop on 23rd May 1953. He was 103 years old and was equally respected by all the section of the people and religions in Kerala.

India Government had honoured his contribution to the society and conferred on him Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award in 2018.

Valiya Metropolitan (then Rev. Philip Oommen) had visited Kuwait in 1952 as a guest of Kuwait Oil Company for the Holy week services and celebrated Holy Communion according to Mar Thoma rites for the first time in Kuwait.

The vicar of the parish, Rev. Shibu K. presided the meeting. Parish Secretary Libu Joseph presented the condolence resolution. Noble Mathew, Rajan K. Thomas, Linu Samuel and Jiju Thomas also spoke on the occasion.
