Well-being of Parents and children during the COVID-19 Pandemic

On 27th March 2021, the WISE Committee of American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), Kuwait Chapter as a part of continuous efforts in its professional journey, organized a Webinar on ‘Well-being of Parents and children during the COVID-19 Pandemic’.
ASSP Kuwait Chapter WISE (Women in Safety Excellence) committee organizes several activities / awareness campaigns for the benefit of the Industry and Community which is supported and appreciated by the members and corporates in Kuwait.
During the session Mr. Safdar Ali Khan, ASSP KC Chapter Secretary, in his opening remarks welcomed all for the webinar, gave brief outline on program agenda & also explained ASSP KC recent activities.
Safety moment on COVID-19 was screened by Engg. Noor Al Sadi, HSE Environmental Engineer.
Ms. Janet Najare, Deputy Head of WISE Committee briefed on the "WISE Committee" and its activities in Kuwait. She appreciated Dr. Bibi for accepting the invitation from WISE & presenting the topic. The coronavirus outbreak has caused major disruptions to daily life, especially children are feeling these changes deeply, the session was truly an eye opener & well taken by the participants.
Dr. Shaikha Al Fajjam, Head of Shuaiba Industrial Medical Center (SIMC) MOH & Head of WISE Committee introduced the key note speaker Dr. Bibi Alamiri, MD, ScD Chair Person Almara (Centre for child and adolescent mental health).
During the presentation, Dr. Bibi described the titled program on Well-being of Parents and Children During the COVID-19 Pandemic. As the coronavirus disease pandemic spread across globe and protective measures to mitigate its impact were entacted by the Governing authority, parents and children experience widespread disruptions in daily life. The objective of this program to determine how the pandemic and mitigation efforts affected the physical and emotional well-being of parents and children & what preventive measures can be taken to overcome these stress was well discussed by Doctor during the session.
As a token of appreciation, Mr. Safdar Ali presented online appreciation certificate to Dr. Bibi Alamiri.
After the session, all questions raised by the participants were answered by the key note speaker. An online Quiz on the topic was also held, on the spot online appreciation certificates were issued to quiz winners.
More than 40 participants, including ASSP Kuwait Chapter members, their spouses & others participated in the awareness program.
The awareness session concluded with vote of thanks by WISE Committee member Ms. Zahida Farook. She appreciated everyone for taking the time out from their busy schedule & attending the session. She thanked the speaker for her informative, elaborate & well explained speech; she also thanked ASSP Chairman, AC & EC Committee & Head of WISE Committee for their valuable support.
