Shemej Kumar Honored with “Pravasi Global Theatre Award”

The International collective for Malayalam drama enthusiasts named “Loka Nadaka Varthakal (LNA) has honored Mr. Shemej Kumar with ‘Pravasi Global Theatre ‘award for his multifaceted contribution in the field of Malayalam Drama. Mr. Shemej Kumar is an expatriate resident of Kuwait and an art enthusiast with deep rooted interest in the arena of theatre; his excellence in direction, composition, theatre organizational skills and various theatre- training sessions are recognized with this award.

LNA has also recognized Mr. Clint Pavitran (UAE) and Mr. Padmanabhan Talora (Oman ) for their contributions to drama in expatriate world through acting costume design, direction, composing and for visual effects. Mr. Sujith Kampala, a central administrative member of LNA has announced in a press note that the awards that include citation, cash award and sculpture will be presented to the award winners during the Global meet of LNA to be held in November 2021.

Mr. Shemej Kumar has marked his space among the Indian Diaspora to Kuwait owing to his artistic brilliance. Since the past 20 years he is an active presence in Malayalam Dramain Kuwait. Mr. Shemej is the proud recipient of the prestigious Kerala Sangeetha Nadaka Acadamy award for his directorial excellence in the drama “Ushnamekhalayile Pen Kutti” in the year 2014 and special jury award for the drama “Kayantharanam” in 2016. Numerous awards and recognitions including Rotary International Award have reached to him over the years for his untiring efforts to keep the spark of drama glowing amidst expatriate existential concerns. He also holds the presidential post of Future Eye theatre-Kuwait, which is a drama organization with contemporary outlook.

Mr. Shemej Kumar, an Engineer by profession is presently employed in Kuwait Oil Company and lives with his family in Kuwait. He hails from Kozhikode in Kerala.
