Indian Frontliners (IFL) and The Institution of Engineers (India),(IEI KC) jointly conducted World Water Day Celebration

Indian Frontliners (IFL) and The Institution of Engineers (India), Kuwait Chapter (IEI KC) jointly conducted a webinar to celebrate World Water Day on 22nd March 2021 .

Dr. Mannar Jawahar, Vice Chancellor of Karunya University, Tamil Nadu, India, inaugurated the webinar and delivered the Inaugural Address.

He gave a clear explanation about how UN started the idea of World Water Day and how it is being celebrated worldwide with a different concept every year.

His speech also highlighted the needs and challenges of drinking water being faced by Indians. “It is high time that people join hands with the government in rain water harvesting”, he added.

His Excellency Sri. Sibi George, Indian Ambassador to the State of Kuwait, was the Chief Guest. He expressed his concern about the climatic changes and the increasing requirement of water due to the growth in population.

He insisted on the importance of water conservation which is the need of the hour. His Excellency Sri. Sibi George appreciated the efforts of IFL and IEI KC in organising the webinar on World Water Day.

Our first Guest Speaker, Dr. Wijdan Al-Oqab, Chairman of Kuwait Environment Protection Society, in her eye opening presentation on “Quality Control of Drinking Water” emphasized on ‘Valuing Water’. She proudly said that Kuwait supplies the world’s highest quality of drinking water, which is much above the quality standards set by WHO, and is distributed at a heavily subsidized price.

So there is no need to fix any purification system at homes in Kuwait.

Our second Guest Speaker, Dr. Manaf Behbehani, a Professor in Kuwait University with 40 years of experience in this field, delivered a wonderful presentation with a detailed statistics on the topic 'Environmental Impacts of Desalination'.

His presentation helped in understanding the methodology of converting sea water into drinking water. He highlighted the impact of water pollution in seas, on aquatic animals and air pollution and gave effective and practical solutions for resolving the same.

It was a great opportunity to get such authentic information which were not known to many.

There was an interesting interactive session which was attended by students and public. The speakers answered their questions with much enthusiasm.

Various Associations, well-wishers, Media, students have attended the function and made this day a memorable occasion.

The organizing team consisted of Mr. S. Ramadoss, Dr. M. Mahendran, Mr. Pukalendiran, Mr. Sam Ananth, Mr. Shibu Pallickal, Mr. Sudir Sahoo , Mr. Subbu, Mrs. Vijaya Priya, Mr. Lakshmanan, Mrs. Rajalakshmi, Mr. Kartikeyan, Mr. Hari, and Mr. Joseph Panicker .
