“Ties between our two countries are literally, literally unbreakable”. Kuwait is a country in Western Asia. It has the population of 43,08,770, out of which 29 lakhs are expatriates. Indian expats constitute 9.6 lakhs. Good diplomatic relation with other countries is the key to prosperity of each nation.

Many people come from India to Kuwait for work, to get jobs, a comfortable salary, for a better education. India was among the earliest countries to recognize Kuwaiti independence, and also Kuwait extended support to India during the war with China in 1962. India also raised a hand of support when Iraq invaded Kuwait, even though having good relations with Iraq.

India and Kuwait enjoy traditionally friendly relations, rooted history and have stood the test of time. India has been a natural trading partner of Kuwait. Till the discovery and development of oil, Kuwait’s economy was driven by its fine harbour and maritime activities which included ship building, pearl diving, fishing and voyages to India on wooden dhows carrying dates, Arabian horses and pearls that were traded for wood, cereals, clothes and spices. Until 1961, Indian rupee was also used as a legal tender in Kuwait. Some nations have strong infrastructure and finances while others are gifted with natural resources. Indians have been the backbone of the oil and gas industries in Kuwait.

In my opinion the bondings and relations of these beautiful countries can’t break for years. I wish you all a very happy National and Liberation Day.
