Indian Embassy celebrated Republic Day; Indians watched the event online

The Indian Embassy in Kuwait celebrated Republic Day of India amid Covid pandemic following all health protocols. Ambassador to Kuwait Sri Sibi George hosted the tricolor flag at the Embassy premise. The event was live streamed at Embassy social media pages which was watched by large number of Indian community members.



Unlike previous years, there was no public celebration at the Embassy. Ambassador paid a floral tribute to the Statue of Mahatma Gandhi and also paid tribute to the portrait of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, before hosting the tricolor flag.





It was followed by National Anthem by group of singers from Kuwait Chamber Carole. Ambassador read out the President's message and his own remarks on the Republic day at the Embassy auditorium, which was attended by Embassy officials and Media only. The whole event was telecasted live for the public.



Ambassador in his speech thanked His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of Kuwait and His Highness Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of Kuwait for hosting the large Indian community in Kuwait. He also thanked Doctors, Nurses and medical professionals for their contributions in this hard time. Ambassador commented the students, schools, teachers and parents in facing the challenges of Covid 19 with determination and adapting to the way education is now being digitally administered. He also thanked the media for helping to reach out to Indian community in Kuwait on time.





Even though, embassy announced that the celebration will be held virtually, number of people came to embassy early morning to witness the flag hoisting event. They were forced to return back as gathering Infront of embassy was not allowed as per the health precautionary measures by the State of Kuwait.



Embassy will organize a virtual Musical Evening today evening at 6:00 pm, which will be telecasted live on Embassy social media pages.
