Republic Day is a day to remember when the Constitution of India officially came into force on January 26, 1950. This historical act formally transitioned India to become an independent republic and hence it is celebrated on January 26 every year. This year, we are going to celebrate the 71th Republic Day of our country.

After Independence from the British several freedom fighters and nationalists gathered together to form a constituent assembly. They thought that it was important to have a constitution to be able to govern the country properly. The constitution is a book with several sets of rules, laws and how the country should be managed.

According to them, a constitution is important because it ensures that those who make decisions on behalf of the public fairly represent public opinion. It also sets out the ways in which those who exercise power may be held accountable to the people they serve. So, the constituent assembly invited Dr. BR. Ambedkar to help them draft the constitution. He was also appointed as the first law minister and was appointed as the chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee. He is also known as the “Father of The Constitution”.

All the people of India had an equal role in achieving independence for our country. Especially the freedom fighters and the nationalists and reformers who sacrificed their life just for the freedom of our country. Republic Day and Independence Day are the two most important events in the history of our country. It defines what we are and what have we done for our motherland. Over the ages, India has been developing to be one of the major powers of the world and we should be proud to be citizens of this beautiful country.

On Republic day, there are huge celebrations all around the country. Even in schools students distribute sweets and many places in India are also given national holiday for Republic day. The main celebrations for Republic Day are held in Delhi on Raj path. Several parades are formed for the unity and diversity of our country. On this day, several national awards are awarded to people who have contributed a lot to our country. Republic Day is very important for us as it teaches us how to adjust to our surroundings and how the citizens of India had struggled to fight against the British to be independent and republic.

Mahatma Gandhi once said, ' A Nation’s culture resides in the heart and soul of its people’.

This Quote says that if we improve ourselves then we can improve the whole of India and even the world.

Memorable quote by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam “Courage to give, Courage to think different, Courage to invent, Courage to discover the impossible, Courage to travel into an unexplored path, Courage to share knowledge, Courage to remove pain, Courage to reach the unreached, Courage to combat problems and succeed are the qualities of youth”.

This Quote means that we should all have a surrounding that helps the youth of India develop their minds and turn India into a better nation. This will only happen if there is unity in diversity.

As a responsible citizen of India it is our duty to work together for the nation building and eradication of problems like poverty, illiteracy, caste discrimination, communalism and corruption from our society.

So, let us stand together and let our country develop into a better place for all of us and the entire world.

JAI HIND!!!!!!
