Decision to limit number of passengers: 60,000 tickets cancelled

Sunday, January 24, 2021

The decision to amend the operational capacity of arriving flights at Kuwait International Airport forced many airlines to cancel some of their schedules due to the commercial operation's lack of economic viability.

According to the new decision, the number of incoming passengers are limited to 1000 per day, which means approximately 35 passengers per flight as of the current schedule.

According to reports, this decision forced the cancellation of about 60,000 tickets made during these two weeks.

The new decision is in effect from the 24th of January to the 6th of February, except for domestic workers and transit passengers.

As per the report, the spread of the mutated Coronavirus, and the discovery of two cases of it in the country for passengers arrived from Britain, prompted the health authorities to tighten control over all arrivals by examining them at the airport before entering the country.

The sources also indicated that this decision might be withdrawn when the private laboratories are operational at the airport.
