India of My Dreams

‘’Janani janmabhumishcha swargadapi gariyasi’’. It means one’s mother and motherland is more dear to him/her than heaven itself.
Dr. Abdul Kalam had once asked a little girl, what was her dream for India? The reply “I dream of a developed India”. This impressed him and to be honest this is also ‘My dream’.
On August 15, 1947, India woke up to freedom. Decades later we continue to celebrate this day when we became a free and sovereign nation. With great leaders in the forefront, India won Independence through peaceful means. The history of the nation gives a glimpse into the magnanimity of its evolution - from a Country reeling under colonialism, to one of the leading economies in the global scenario within a span of fifty years. More than anything, the nationalistic fervour of the people is the contributing force behind the culmination of such a development. This transformation of the nation instils a sense of national pride in the heart of every Indian within the country and abroad
Living in this country I feel privileged and proud to be a part of this cultural diversity. I love my country and I hope to contribute to its progress once I grow up. It is also called as the land of spirituality, philosophy, science and technology. Everyone respects all religions, hearts so loving and kind. A Unity in diversity, elsewhere difficult to find. India is also the biggest democracy in the world. India is also the birthplace of some very prominent figures such as Mahatma Gandhi who is hailed as the flagbearer of non-violence throughout the world. India has varied culture and tradition, mouth-watering cuisine, beautiful dances, breath-taking tourist places, different languages, the list is endless.
The India of my dream would be a country. It will be a place where there is freedom of equality to all and everyone can enjoy it in their true sense. Also a place where women are safe and walk freely on road. Furthermore, it would be a place where there is no discrimination of caste, colour, gender, creed, social or economic status, and race. In addition, I see it as a place that sees an abundance of development and growth.
I dream India as a country that sees women as its assets, not as liabilities. The India of my dream will be a place where education will be mandatory for all. I dream of an India where there is no discrimination of any kind. I dream of an India where every person plants and cares for a minimum of 10 to 20 trees in his life time, where wild life is safe from poachers, where Man lives in harmony with Nature, where there is no corruption.
I dream of an India where market places, roads are spotlessly clean, where the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained where garbage is not spilling on the roads and animals are not roaming around on the streets. India of my dreams will be free from poverty. I feel very sad when I see hungry children on the streets begging for food.
I dream of an India, where farmers are respected as much as any other professional, where people are not superstitious, an India which is not only superior in science and technology but also in sports, where we are able to win maximum medals in Olympics and other international games.
It is the country of Gandhi’s where no one will be afraid to speak the truth, the land of Buddha who teaches peace and harmony. The land of Sufi where all religion co-exists without any biases of religion, gender, caste, etc.
Lastly I dream of an India which will be the very first country to come up with a vaccine for COVID-19.
This is the India of my dream- this is the India in which I want to live-the India of which I am a proud citizen. We have to work hard to change the mind-set of society who think India as inferior of other countries.
