American Society of Safety Professional, Kuwait Chapter (ASSP KC) held Technical Meet on “Awareness on Breast Cancer”

2020 has been a powerful reminder that we are all in this situation together, and our choices and actions have the power to protect the most vulnerable among us in a big way. The same holds true when it comes to breast cancer.

Month of October is considered as breast cancer awareness month. On 31st October 2020, American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), Kuwait Chapter as a part of continuous efforts in its professional journey, organized an online session on ‘Awareness on Breast Cancer’.

Mr. Safar Ali Khan, ASSP KC Chapter Secretary, in his opening remarks gave brief outline on program agenda & also explained ASSP KC recent activities.

A video clip on ‘Pink Ribbon Awareness ‘was screened as safety moment at the beginning of the session.

Ms. Janet Najare, Deputy Head of WISE Committee gave an introductory presentation on "WISE Committee" and its activities in Kuwait. She highlighted on the WISE membership benefits & also briefed on upcoming WISE program.

Dr. Shaikha Al Fajjam, Head of WISE Committee introduced the key note speaker Dr. Anwar Alnajjar, Consultant Family Medicine, RCGP-INT, diploma in diabetes from university of Dundee and London.

During the presentation, Dr. Dr. Anwar, described about the risk factors for breast cancer and statistics worldwide and Kuwait, calculation of women risk and categorization, early detection of breast cancer through appropriate investigation and its importance, confirming early detection increases the chances of survival.

As a token of appreciation, Dr. Shaikha Al Fajjam presented online appreciation certificate to Dr. Anwar Alnajjar. After the session, all questions raised by the participants were answered by the key note speaker. An online Quiz on the topic was also held, on the spot online appreciation certificates were issued to five quiz winners.

More than 56 participants, including ASSP Kuwait Chapter members, their spouses & others participated in the awareness program.

The awareness session concluded with vote of thanks by WISE Committee member Ms. Zahida Farook. She thanked the speaker for her informative, elaborate & well explained speech; she also thanked everyone for taking the time out from their busy schedule & attending the meeting. With your support, we can show every woman that her life is important. By working together, we can inspire hope and become a force for good “to get her” access to the care she needs.
