Technical Meet held on "Risk & Mental Wellbeing during COVID-19" by ASSP Kuwait Chapter - WISE Committee

As a part of continuous efforts in its professional journey, on 24th September 2020, WISE Committee of American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), Kuwait Chapter, held a online Technical Meet on “Risk & Mental Wellbeing during COVID-19” through Zoom Conferencing.

Mr. Safar Ali Khan – ASSP KC Chapter Secretary, in his opening remarks gave brief outline on program agenda & also explained ASSP KC recent activities with pictorial presentation. A video clip on COVID-19 precautionary measure was screened as safety moment at the beginning of the session.

Mr. Jahid Thakoor, President WISE Committee welcomed all participants for this second event organized by WISE Committee of ASSP KC.

On behalf of Dr. Shaikha Al Fajjam, Head of WISE Committee - Ms. Janet Najare, Deputy Head of WISE Committee gave an introductory presentation on "WISE Committee" and its activities in Kuwait. She introduced the key note speaker Dr. Al Anoud Alateeq, Senior Occupational Medicine, PhD Industrial medicine and occupational health. Responsible for managing Shuaiba Medical-MOH in capacity of Occupational health specialist.

During the presentation, Dr. Al Anoud, described about COVID-19 Symptoms, health monitoring, precautions, COVID-19 pandemic in Kuwait & what safety measure being followed in Kuwait, psychological impact of COVID-19, mental health problems, signs of stigma/anxiety/panic attack/depression/suicide. She also discussed COVID-19 stressors on migrant workers in Kuwait and potential intervention, management of mental health during COVID-19 & steps to cope up with stresses.
The Awareness session was very much interactive and it was followed by Question & Answer session. As a token of appreciation, ASSP Executive Committee issued online appreciation certificate to Dr. Al Anoud.

After the session, an online Quiz on the subject was held, on the spot online appreciation certificates were issued to five winners.

More than 56 participants, including ASSP Kuwait Chapter members, their spouses & ladies participated in the awareness program.

The awareness session concluded with vote of thanks by WISE Committee member Ms. Zahida Farook. She thanked the speaker for her informative & apt to the current pandemic situation speech; she also thanked everyone for taking the time out from their busy schedule & attending the meeting.
